Hailing from New Zealand, NYC-based artist and designer Cherry Kim first launched her brand Rhee Studio in the midst of pandemic. Paying homage to her mother’s maiden name and Korean heritage, Cherry began repurposing vintage workwear pieces with custom illustrations and drawings for Rhee. Many of these drawings of figures and objects carry a personal significance and story that further ground Cherry's work as physical reflections of her life.

For her collaboration with le PÈRE, Kim was inspired by the Korean wrestling matches she watched as a child with her father and grandfather. Hand-drawn on a vintage workwear jacket for le PÈRE and then digitized and reimagined across different styles in the capsule, the illustrations are a nostalgic tribute to Cherry's forefathers and her rich Korean heritage.
